Woman released from prison after race hate post set to meet Trump lawyer
Starmer on Lucy Connolly prison sentence
Lucy Connolly, a former childminder, has been released from prison after serving part of a 31-month sentence for inciting racial hatred.
She was jailed for a social media post that called for setting fire to hotels housing asylum seekers, which she later claimed was made in a 'red mist' of anger.
Connolly asserts she was made a 'political prisoner' and that her statements were 'massively twisted' by the police and Crown Prosecution Service, prompting her to consider legal action.
She is scheduled to meet with representatives of Donald Trump's administration, who are reportedly 'keen to speak' with her and are 'big advocates for free speech'.
Northamptonshire Police have acknowledged Connolly's comments made since her release and intend to contact her to understand the issues she has raised regarding their conduct.
