Lord Ming Campbell, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats, has died at the age of 84.
His family confirmed he passed away peacefully at the Kyn Hurlingham care facility in London, having watched the Lib Dem party conference in his final days.
Sir Ed Davey, the current Liberal Democrat leader, paid tribute, describing Lord Campbell as a “dedicated public servant” and a “true Liberal giant”.
His grandson, Gregor Grant-Suttie, highlighted his achievements across sport, law, and politics, and his profound impact as a family man.
Grant-Suttie also noted Lord Campbell's international perspective, particularly on defence, which extended beyond UK politics.
