Eli Lilly to offer UK discount on Mounjaro weight-loss jabs

  • Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of the weight-loss drug Mounjaro, has suggested a discounted price of £247.50 per month for the maximum 15mg dose, down from the originally planned £330.
  • Despite the discount, the new price is still more than double the current cost of £122 per month.
  • The planned price increase followed President Donald Trump's urging for American drug manufacturers to raise their prices outside the US.
  • This led to UK users stockpiling the jabs, causing shortages at pharmacies and prompting Eli Lilly to suspend sales to UK wholesalers.
  • Eli Lilly said it is working with private providers to maintain affordability and expects these arrangements to benefit patients when the price change takes effect on 1 September.
