Rightmove reports a 19 per cent year-on-year increase in US resident enquiries about UK properties, the highest since 2017, possibly due to global economic uncertainty following Trump's tariff announcements.
Edinburgh has overtaken London as the most popular location for US buyers, potentially due to lower property prices. Glasgow also ranks highly.
Enquiries primarily focus on smaller homes (two bedrooms or fewer), suggesting interest in investment or holiday homes rather than permanent relocation, a Rightmove spokesperson says.
While a notable trend, US-based enquiries represent a small percentage of total UK enquiries.
Experts suggest that the UK is viewed as a stable investment and that Scotland's affordability and scenery are attractive to buyers.
