US Navy is reportedly planning a ‘shimmering spectacle’ for its 250th anniversary
President Trump gives remarks at Army 250th Parade
The U.S. Navy is reportedly planning large-scale public celebrations for its 250th anniversary, aiming for a “shimmering spectacle with seacraft.”
This initiative follows a controversial Army anniversary parade in Washington in June, which reportedly disappointed the president due to low attendance and soldiers marching out of step.
The Army event, costing $30 million, also faced nationwide “No Kings” protests and was criticized for its small crowds and the unexpected appearance of corporate sponsors.
The president had previously pushed for large military spectacles, though the Pentagon initially resisted due to concerns about the military's tradition of non-partisanship.
The Navy has been commemorating its 250th anniversary since January through a series of events and will continue celebrations into next year.
