Following the power vacuum, Nepalese anti-corruption protestors utilised the Discord platform to nominate an interim leader.
Sushila Karki, a 73-year-old former chief justice known for her integrity and staunch anti-corruption stance, emerged as the chosen interim Prime Minister.
Her appointment, making her the first woman to lead Nepal, was agreed upon by President Ramchandra Paudel, the chief of the Nepal Army, and representatives of the Gen-Z protest movement.
As one of her initial acts, Ms Karki dissolved Nepal’s parliament and scheduled new general elections for March 2026.
