Police in New York City have issued a warning over reported terror threats against critical city infrastructure, specifically bridges and tunnels.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the department is “monitoring threats” targeting connections between Queens and Manhattan.
Although an NYPD official described the threats as “uncorroborated and unsubstantiated”, the department is taking them seriously and collaborating with federal partners.
As a precautionary measure, residents should expect an increased police presence, particularly during commutes across bridges and through tunnels.
Commissioner Tisch noted that threats typically spike around this time of year due to events such as the 9/11 anniversary, Jewish high holidays, and the UN General Assembly.
