  • A Delta flight carrying nearly 300 passengers from Madrid to New York was forced to make an emergency landing in the Azores.
  • The diversion to Terceira, a remote Portuguese island, was due to a suspected engine issue after passengers reported hearing a loud boom.
  • Passengers and crew were stranded for approximately 30 hours on the island following the safe landing of the Airbus A330.
  • A replacement flight eventually transported the 282 passengers and 13 crew to New York’s John F Kennedy Airport.
  • Delta apologised for the significant delay and inconvenience, stating they offered meals and lodging to those affected.
