New Zealand's High Commissioner to the UK, Phil Goff, has been dismissed from his post.
It comes after he made comments questioning Donald Trump's understanding of history at a Chatham House event.
Mr Goff referenced the US President’s reinstatement of Sir Winston Churchill's bust in the Oval Office, contrasting it with Sir Winston’s criticism of appeasement.
Foreign Minister Winston Peters deemed Mr Goff's remarks "untenable" and not representative of the New Zealand government's views.
Former Prime Minister Helen Clark criticised Mr Goff's dismissal, calling him “highly respected”.
