An app developed by home care provider Cera is saving the NHS over £1.5m a day by detecting early signs of illness in elderly people.
The technology has halved hospital admissions and reduced costly residential care referrals and ambulance call-outs for high-risk over-65s.
Nurses and carers use the app during home visits to log patient data, such as blood pressure and heart rate, enabling early intervention like GP consultations.
An analysis by AI and data science company Faculty AI confirmed the app has saved the NHS over £1bn since its introduction in 2023.
The app's success demonstrates the potential of technology and AI to ease NHS pressures, improve public services, and reduce falls among the elderly.
