Anna Chithrakala, a 45-year-old London teacher, suffered a brain haemorrhage and stroke, leaving her unable to walk or talk.
She had what her family described as a negative experience with NHS care at University Hospital Lewisham, and has claimed nurses were “bullying” patients on “noisy” wards.
She is now undergoing intensive rehabilitation after her family drove her 1,000 miles to a Hungarian hospital.
Ms Chithrakala is showing positive progress in regaining mobility and speech.
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust has encouraged her family to be in direct contact so it can open a formal investigation into her concerns.
