Conservative grandee Norman Tebbit dies aged 94

  • Norman Tebbit, a former cabinet minister and staunch supporter of Margaret Thatcher, has died at the age of 94.
  • He served as Employment Secretary, where he confronted trade unions, and later as Conservative Party Chairman, helping secure Thatcher's third general election victory.
  • Tebbit suffered severe injuries in the 1984 IRA Brighton bombing, which left his wife, Margaret, paralysed.
  • Described as a "political giant" by former colleagues, he was known for his combative style and loyalty.
  • A passionate Eurosceptic, he also served as President of the Bruges Group, campaigning against EU integration.
