Fiery explosion rips through building after hit and run crash

Explosion after hit-and-run driver hits veterinary surgery's gas line in North Carolina
  • A building in North Carolina exploded after a hit-and-run driver crashed into its gas line.
  • The incident occurred on Tuesday, 19 August, when Jason Lee Beach, 46, of Wilmington, drove into the Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center's gas pipes.
  • The explosion happened 20 minutes later while firefighters were inside, resulting in four firefighters being injured, one severely.
  • Beach has been arrested and faces five charges, including DWI-felony serious injury and reckless driving.
