North Korean leader Kim Jong Un unveiled a new 5,000-tonne naval destroyer, equipped with "the most powerful weapons".
It is designed to operate a range of weapons systems, including anti-air and anti-naval weapons, as well as nuclear-capable ballistic and cruise missiles.
Kim claims this strengthens North Korea's preemptive strike capabilities and expands its operational range.
He cited perceived threats from the US and its allies as justification for the military expansion.
The unveiling follows increased tensions due to North Korea's nuclear program and its alignment with Russia.
