Cruise passenger rescued after being blown into water during strong winds
The Norwegian Epic
A Norwegian Cruise Line passenger fell into the Water while disembarking the Norwegian Epic in Catania, Sicily, on May 30 due to strong winds.
The passenger sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for examination and treatment after being rescued by crew members.
Wind gusts reached up to 45 mph at the time of the incident, causing the ship to move away from the pier.
The cruise line temporarily suspended disembarkation until the weather improved and docking could resume safely.
The Norwegian Epic was on a 10-day excursion from Rome, with stops in Italy, Greece, Malta, and France and this incident follows similar wind-related issues with cruise ships in recent months.
