The incident occurred as officers were following up on a domestic inquiry from the previous day, with the shooter also confirmed dead.
Governor Josh Shapiro condemned the violence, describing it as a tragic loss of life, while Attorney General Pamela Bondi called violence against police 'a scourge on our society'.
This event marks one of the deadliest days for Pennsylvania police this century, drawing comparisons to a 2009 incident where three Pittsburgh officers were ambushed.
The two injured officers are in critical but stable condition at York Hospital, and an investigation is ongoing, with authorities withholding specific details about the shooter and officers involved.
