Pope’s body moved to St Peter’s Basilica for public viewing ahead of funeral
How does a new pope get chosen?
Pope Francis' body has arrived at St. Peter's Basilica for public viewing, which will last for three days before his funeral.
The funeral mass will be held in St. Peter's Square on Saturday and presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
Numerous world leaders, including President Trump, Sir Keir Starmer, President Macron, and President Zelensky, along with the Prince of Wales, are expected to attend.
The Pope died at 88 after a period of declining health, including a recent hospitalisation for double pneumonia.
Following the funeral, a conclave will be held to elect the next Pope, with no clear frontrunner yet identified.
