At least 24 dead, 19 injured after Russian air strike hits Ukrainian pensioners
Smoke rises from government building after Russian attack on Kyiv
A Russian glide bomb struck the village of Yarova in Ukraine's Donetsk region on Tuesday, killing at least 24 people and injuring 19 others.
The attack occurred around 11 a.m. local time, targeting residents, predominantly pensioners, who were queuing at a mobile post office to collect their monthly payments.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the "brutal" attack, calling for stronger international reactions and further sanctions against Russia.
The incident is the latest in a series of escalated Russian aerial barrages across Ukraine, with the village located less than 10 kilometres from the front line.
US and European officials are currently discussing new economic pressures, including sanctions and tariffs, in response to Russia's ongoing aggression.
