Yvette Cooper, the Foreign Secretary, announced 100 new sanctions against Russia during her first overseas visit to Kyiv.
The sanctions target Moscow’s military and energy sectors, including companies supplying equipment for weapons and 70 ships in Russia’s “shadow fleet”.
Ms Cooper’s trip to Ukraine signals the UK’s steadfast support for the nation following recent Russian drone incursions into Nato airspace.
She stated that the UK will not stand idly by as Russia continues its invasion and emphasised the importance of international action to cut off critical cash flows.
During her visit, Ms Cooper will inspect damaged government and residential buildings in Kyiv, hit by recent large-scale Russian aerial attacks.
