British couple feared execution during Taliban detention
Peter and Barbie Reynolds released from prison after being held for months by Taliban
Britons Peter and Barbie Reynolds have spoken out after being held by the Taliban in Afghanistan for over seven months without charge.
The couple, aged 80 and 76, were arrested on 1 February and endured a bewildering detention across 10 different prisons, including solitary confinement, never being told why they were held.
They described suffering significant health issues and fearing execution, with Mr Reynolds recalling being chained with murderers and rapists.
Despite their release, the couple said it remains a "mystery" why they were detained and subsequently freed.
The Reynolds lived in Afghanistan for 18 years, running education programmes, but have confirmed they will likely never return and have left behind their home and possessions.
