Mother’s warning after TikTok trend leaves child with serious burns
TikTok fire challenge' video goes awry with teen girl in intensive care with severe burns
A 12-year-old Texan boy, Caden Ballard, suffered severe burns after a TikTok experiment involving rubbing alcohol and fire went wrong.
Caden and his older brother recreated a video, but unknowingly used isopropyl alcohol, which produces an invisible flame.
Thinking the fire was out, Caden was burned on 11 per cent of his body with second-to-third-degree burns when he attempted to dispose of the bottle.
His brother quickly pulled off Caden's burning shirt and instructed him to stop, drop, and roll, which helped minimise the damage.
Caden is undergoing intensive care and recovery, with his mother urging parents to discuss the dangers of recreating online stunts with their children.
