Mother’s warning after TikTok trend leaves child with serious burns

TikTok fire challenge' video goes awry with teen girl in intensive care with severe burns
  • A 12-year-old Texan boy, Caden Ballard, suffered severe burns after a TikTok experiment involving rubbing alcohol and fire went wrong.
  • Caden and his older brother recreated a video, but unknowingly used isopropyl alcohol, which produces an invisible flame.
  • Thinking the fire was out, Caden was burned on 11 per cent of his body with second-to-third-degree burns when he attempted to dispose of the bottle.
  • His brother quickly pulled off Caden's burning shirt and instructed him to stop, drop, and roll, which helped minimise the damage.
  • Caden is undergoing intensive care and recovery, with his mother urging parents to discuss the dangers of recreating online stunts with their children.
