Trump administration pauses work on federal worker charity drive
Trump claims people are saying maybe the US would like a dictator
The Trump administration has paused work on the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), a long-standing government charitable program.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued a Stop Work Order on August 26, affecting the CFC's upcoming website launch and 2025 solicitation period.
Established in the early 1960s, the CFC has raised over $9 billion for various charities, with all program costs absorbed by participating charities, not taxpayers.
While the exact reason for the pause is unclear, the administration has previously taken a firm stance against government support for organizations not aligned with Trump's policies.
Charities supporting the CFC, some of whom have already paid application fees, learned about the pause through their networks rather than directly from the OPM.
