Warning issued to Keir Starmer over Donald Trump’s UK visit
Donald Trump praises Keir Starmer on board Air Force One
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has urged the Prime Minister to cancel Donald Trump's upcoming visit to the UK.
The union expressed concerns that the visit would further strain fire and rescue services, which are already stretched by budget cuts and recent wildfires.
Firefighters are reportedly being deployed to Chequers for the event, with Buckinghamshire fire and rescue service offering overtime to staff.
FBU General Secretary Steve Wright criticised Donald Trump as a "toxic, authoritarian billionaire" and stated the visit could compromise public safety.
Chris Wycherley, an FBU executive, highlighted that 15 years of cuts have left the fire service "on its knees", making the deployment for the visit seem like a "cruel joke".
