Private hire drivers plan a 24-hour strike on Thursday, as part of a global movement for better pay, working conditions, and protections.
The strike, organised by the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB), will involve drivers logging off apps like Uber and Bolt in several UK cities, including London, Newcastle, Bristol, and Manchester.
A two-hour walkout is also scheduled at Heathrow Airport from 7am, though normal operations are expected.
Drivers cite falling fares, long hours, lack of worker protections, and the risk of unfair account deactivation as key concerns.
Uber says it engages regularly with drivers and highlights its worker classification, providing benefits like minimum wage, holiday pay, and pension access.
