New home registrations in the UK surged 36 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to the NHBC.
The private sector saw a 62 per cent increase in registrations, while the rental and affordable sector experienced a slight decline.
Detached homes and bungalows saw the largest growth in registrations, while apartments saw a small decrease.
Despite global uncertainties, factors like easing inflation and lower mortgage rates contribute to a positive outlook for UK house building.
London was the only region to experience a decline in new home registrations, attributed to building safety regulations and lower housing association demand.
