Storm Floris to bring ‘unseasonably strong winds’ to parts of UK
  • Storm Floris is forecast to hit on Monday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain across much of the UK and Ireland.
  • The Met Office has issued yellow and amber wind warnings, with the amber warning for northern Scotland mainland indicating a potential danger to life from winds up to 85mph. It will remain in effect from 10am to 10pm.
  • The yellow warning covers Northern Ireland, north Wales, northern England, and parts of Scotland, where gusts of 40-50mph are expected inland. It will be in force from 6am on Monday until midnight.
  • Potential impacts include widespread disruption to road, rail, air, and ferry services, power cuts, flying debris, and large waves along coastal areas.
