UK warned of ‘tornado activity’ as thunderstorms hit the country
Thunderstorm alerts have been issued (PA Wire)
The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm weather warning for northern England, active from Saturday evening until early Sunday morning.
Meteorologists are monitoring for potential tornado activity within the warning area, which spans from Nottingham northwards, and could also affect southeast Scotland.
The severe thunderstorms are expected to bring frequent lightning, large hail, gusty winds, and a risk of flooding.
Alongside the storms, high temperatures are forecast, with some areas potentially reaching 34C, possibly making it the hottest day of the year.
An amber heat-health alert remains in place across all regions of England for the entire weekend.
