Locals rescued from cars and homes as flash floods turn deadly in Odesa
Nine people, including a family of five, have died following severe flash flooding in the Ukrainian city of Odesa.
The coastal area experienced nearly two months' worth of rain in just seven hours, causing widespread storms, downpours, and power outages.
Emergency services rescued 362 people, with one person still missing, and approximately 42,000 residents in 32 villages remain without power.
Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov noted that no drainage system could withstand such a load, and President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered a full review into the tragedy.
