Sir Keir Starmer's national security adviser, Jonathan Powell, played a key role in brokering a 30-day ceasefire proposal between Ukraine and Russia.
Powell traveled to Kyiv to meet with President Zelensky and help draft the proposal, which includes a temporary pause in fighting and confidence-building measures.
The breakthrough came amid European efforts to restore relations between the US and Ukraine.
Powell collaborated with US and European officials to secure the agreement.
Ukraine accepted the US-proposed ceasefire, and the US agreed to resume intelligence sharing and security assistance to Ukraine.
