Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the conscription of 160,000 more men into the army to fight the war in Ukraine.
The order applies to men aged 18 to 30, who will be drafted by mid-summer this year.
The move comes despite ongoing peace talks with Ukraine and the United States.
Mr Putin has offered to speak again with Donald Trump after the US president said he was angry at Mr Putin’s criticisms of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
For the first time this year, Russia did not launch a mass overnight drone attack against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
