UN aviation agency barred from joining Air India probe

Indian authorities have reportedly denied a request from the UN's International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for an international observer to join the Air India Dreamliner crash investigation.
The crash, which occurred on 12 June in Ahmedabad, resulted in over 270 fatalities and was the first of its kind involving a Boeing 787.
ICAO sought observer status to ensure adherence to international protocols and strengthen the credibility of the probe, given the accident's scale and the involvement of foreign nationals.
The denial follows criticism from safety experts regarding delays in black box data analysis and a perceived lack of transparency in India's investigation.
Indian authorities have successfully retrieved data from the aircraft's black boxes, with analysis of the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder currently underway.
