Tributes have been paid to former Liverpool Women’s manager Matt Beard, who passed away at the age of 47.
Liverpool and Southampton players observed a minute’s silence and wore black armbands before their Carabao Cup match, with stadium displays honouring Beard.
Head coach Arne Slot praised Beard's legacy, highlighting his back-to-back league titles and promotion with the women's team, noting he was 'respected and liked in equal measure'.
Captains Virgil van Dijk and Grace Fisk also shared heartfelt tributes, with Fisk describing Beard as a uniquely loved and competitive manager.
A fundraising page for Beard’s wife Debbie and children Harry and Ellie has significantly surpassed its initial £5,000 target, currently standing at over £37,000.
