Clive Tyldesley singles out BBC football commentator for praise
Commentator Clive Tyldesley 'upset annoyed and baffled' as ITV demote him
Clive Tyldesley, a veteran football commentator, believes attitudes towards female presenters, commentators, and pundits will naturally progress, leading to them being judged purely on their ability.
He highlighted broadcasters like Gabby Logan, Hazel Irvine, and Robyn Cowen as examples whose excellence already transcends gender considerations, despite criticism from figures such as Joey Barton.
Tyldesley praised Robyn Cowen as one of the best commentators on television, evaluating her based on content, rhythm, insight, and accuracy rather than her gender.
He is also promoting The Football Association’s Silent Support weekend, scheduled for 15-16 November, which he visited Bushey and Oxhey FC to support.
During this initiative, parents are encouraged to refrain from cheering and shouting, limiting themselves to clapping, to allow young players to develop their own decision-making and voice on the pitch.
