Why new car enhancements could see F1 legend make late surge for the title
Max Verstappen celebrates Italian Grand Prix victory
Max Verstappen has secured back-to-back Formula 1 victories in Monza and Baku, significantly reducing the points difference to championship leader Oscar Piastri.
Verstappen is currently 69 points adrift of Piastri with seven rounds and 199 points remaining in the season.
Despite the substantial gap, Verstappen maintains he has "nothing to lose" in his bid for a fifth consecutive F1 world championship.
He acknowledged McLaren's previous dominance but expressed a focus on performing his best, regardless of the final championship outcome.
Lando Norris, who is second in the standings, conceded that Verstappen is now a "genuinely" strong contender following Red Bull's recent performance enhancements.
