Indian Premier League suspended as India-Pakistan conflict escalates

BCCI suspends IPL 2025 indefinitely
  • The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
  • The suspension follows the abandonment of a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, officially attributed to a power outage, but linked to the ongoing conflict.
  • The tournament, which began on March 22 and was scheduled to end on May 25, is now on hold indefinitely and initially for a week.
  • The India-Pakistan conflict flared up after India targeted locations in Pakistan it claimed were linked to terrorism, in response to an earlier attack in Kashmir.
  • Several airports in northwestern India, including those in Dharamsala and Chandigarh, have been closed to civilian and commercial flights.
