Arne Slot has requested further patience with Alexander Isak, stating the striker is still "some time" away from his best form despite being ready to rejoin training.
Slot reversed his earlier assessment that Isak had completed a full pre-season, acknowledging that a recent groin injury sustained against Frankfurt has set back his progress.
Isak, who has scored only one goal since his British record transfer, will train with the team ahead of Liverpool's match against Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz, Liverpool's other £100m signing, is beginning to find his form, delivering his best performance from a wide-left position against Real Madrid.
Slot clarified that Wirtz is versatile and can play multiple attacking roles, emphasising the importance of getting him into positions near the 18-yard box to create chances.
