Manny Pacquiao, 46, is returning to boxing after a four-year hiatus and will challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title on July 19th in Las Vegas.
Despite the long absence, Pacquiao has been controversially reinstated into the WBC welterweight rankings at No. 5.
Pacquiao, boxing's only eight-division world champion, is invoking his right as a former champion to an immediate title shot.
He aims to become the oldest welterweight champion, surpassing his own record set in 2019 at age 40 when he defeated Keith Thurman.
This comeback follows Pacquiao's unsuccessful run for president of the Philippines in 2022, after serving as a senator from 2016-2022.
