Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi underwent urgent surgery on Monday night for a serious abdominal injury sustained during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
Awoniyi collided with the goalpost late in the match, initially attempting to continue playing before the severity of the injury was discovered.
The incident prompted Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis to confront manager Nuno Espirito Santo post-match, expressing frustration that Awoniyi wasn't substituted.
The injury occurred after an offside play involving Leicester's Facundo Buonanotte, who also collided with the post.
While Forest's Champions League hopes are now slim, they are guaranteed a spot in the Conference League, marking their return to European football after a long absence.
