Harry Hudson, 18, has made history by becoming the first British male to win the junior world road race, securing a gold medal in Kigali, Rwanda.
Hudson, representing Harrogate Nova Race Team, launched a decisive solo attack with about 36km remaining on the challenging 119km course.
He successfully held off his pursuers, finishing 16 seconds clear of France's Johan Blanc, who took the silver medal.
The victory marks Britain's second gold medal of the championships, following Zoe Backstedt's earlier win in the women's under-23 time trial.
Hudson described his winning move as an unplanned, “in the moment” decision on a gruelling course featuring significant elevation gain and a cobbled climb.
