  • Harry Hudson, 18, has made history by becoming the first British male to win the junior world road race, securing a gold medal in Kigali, Rwanda.
  • Hudson, representing Harrogate Nova Race Team, launched a decisive solo attack with about 36km remaining on the challenging 119km course.
  • He successfully held off his pursuers, finishing 16 seconds clear of France's Johan Blanc, who took the silver medal.
  • The victory marks Britain's second gold medal of the championships, following Zoe Backstedt's earlier win in the women's under-23 time trial.
  • Hudson described his winning move as an unplanned, “in the moment” decision on a gruelling course featuring significant elevation gain and a cobbled climb.
