Cameron Norrie the final Brit standing at Wimbledon Championships

Heatwave to serve hottest start to Wimbledon with temperatures to hit 35C
  • Cameron Norrie defeated qualifier Nicolas Jarry in a five-set marathon at Wimbledon, securing his place in the quarter-finals.
  • Norrie, who led by two sets and had a match point in the third, won 6-3 7-6 (4) 6-7 (7) 6-7 (5) 6-3 after a gruelling four hours and 27 minutes.
  • This victory makes Norrie the last British player remaining in either draw and only the third British man in 50 years, after Tim Henman and Andy Murray, to reach the Wimbledon last eight more than once.
  • Despite a tough couple of years that saw his ranking drop, Norrie's win puts him on the verge of returning to the top 50.
  • Norrie is now likely to face two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.
