Hotel Review
Widbrook Grange, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire
This boutique hotel is convenient for the countryside, Bradford-on-Avon and Bath, and is decorated in a vintage-industrial style. The food is reliable, plus there is a dedicated gin bar. The hotel suits couples and families, though aside from a dip in the small swimming pool, there is not much to do on-site.

OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The hotel sits just to the south of pretty Bradford-on-Avon, while the Unesco-heritage city of Bath is a 25-minute drive away. The market town can be reached by walking through the countryside for 25 minutes along a pleasant stretch of the Kennet and Avon canal. The best restaurant in town is the small but renowned Bunch of Grapes, while there is a great pub with a riverside beer garden a bit further along the canal - The Cross Guns at Avoncliff.
By car: around 45 minutes from Bristol, 2 hours 30 minutes from London or 3 hours 30 minutes from Manchester. There is free parking on site.
By train: trains to Trowbridge station run from Bristol Temple Meads (38 minutes) or Bath Spa (21 minutes). The hotel is a 6-minute drive from Trowbridge Station. Book trains to Trowbridge.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
The hotel was once a model farm and has a boutique feel. The interiors are dressed in a vintage-industrial style, with exposed brickwork and some humorous touches that play on the building's agricultural heritage. Tools have been upcycled, for example, and appear as lamps or decorative objects.
THE FACILITIES
Staff are friendly though they do not always offer the most proactive service; a stay can sometimes feel like you are in a private home. Massages with Neal's Yard oils, plus facials and other treatments, are available in bedrooms.
