OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Catch the train from the airport and you won't have far to cart your cases between the station and Nimb - step out onto busy Bernstorffsgade and the hotel is directly opposite you, next door to the Tivoli turnstiles and roller coaster mountain; it's as convenient as they come. Nimb sits between the nightlife hotspots of Vesterbro on one side and the shopping streets and cultural attractions of the city centre on the other.

By plane: there are direct flights to Copenhagen from London (1 hour 45 mins), Manchester (1 hour 50 mins) and Edinburgh (1 hour 45 mins). The hotel is around a 15-minute drive from the airport. Book flights to Copenhagen.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Viewed from the Tivoli side, the hotel looks fabulously kitsch, especially at night when its Moorish arches, domes and turrets are outlined in soft white bulbs. Inside, crystal chandeliers and candle lanterns cast their flattering glow over tastefully restrained design that mixes modern Danish style with period features and Oriental influences.

THE FACILITIES

The hotel's fitness facilities (open to Nimb Club members as well as hotel guests) include a gym, wellness area and a small but perfectly formed rooftop pool with surrounding sunbeds and a built-in wave machine. Other services on offer range from personal shoppers and private food tours to rental bikes and limousines.

Rooms are split between the original 1909 building and the sleek 2017 extension, and all bar one (the sole standard room) enjoy a view over Tivoli. Some have working fireplaces, others get balconies; all are spacious and stylish, with a muted colour palette, super-luxe bathrooms and contemporary Danish design sitting alongside antiques from the Far East.

FOOD AND DRINK

The hotel has several restaurants and bars, some of them in the main building (open year-round) and others within Tivoli (these close in between seasons, as the gardens do). One of the highlights is Nimb Bar, serving top-notch cocktails and afternoon tea in the impressive surroundings of the former ballroom.

Nimb Brasserie: fine dining, French cuisine. Open daily 11am-10pm. Mains from 275DKK.

Gemyse: organic, mostly plant-based. Open Mon-Sat 11am-10pm. Tasting menu 650DKK.
