THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The hotel is located in the heart of the artistic Dorsoduro district, surrounded by artisan shops and galleries. The church bells ring from the nearby Basilica of S. Maria della Salute, while Punta della Dogana, which houses some of the Pinault Collection, is within five minutes' walk. The Peggy Guggenheim museum, in her former home Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal, is just a short walk away and houses one of the most important collections of 20th-century European and American art in the world.
By plane: direct flights to Venice from London take 2 hours. Take a taxi (30 mins) or an airport boat (1 hour 20 mins) to reach the hotel, or take a water taxi. Book flights to Venice.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Situated in a 19th-century neo-Gothic palazzo at the mouth of the Grand Canal, the décor makes a bold move away from traditional Venetian style and reflects its artistic surroundings with a striking all-white restaurant and red bar with contemporary curved banquette seating. Strings of back-lit hewn crystal line the front of the reception desk.
THE FACILITIES
The huge glass door will be swept open as you arrive and your luggage quickly transferred to your room. The Maitre d' and his number two are a wonderfully joyful pair who will make you feel swept up into a warm embrace. A small fitness centre is at the top of the building.
