THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Just a two minute walk from Merrion Square, the Alex is right on the doorstep of Georgian Dublin and the hotel's location near the National Gallery and Trinity College will appeal to culture-lovers. It's a short walk from both the city centre and the docklands, perfect for both business and leisure travel with easy access to the city's nightlife and shopping areas.

By plane: there are direct flights to Dublin Airport from Manchester (1 hour), Birmingham (1 hour 5 minutes) and London (1 hour 15 minutes). The hotel is a 25-minute drive from the airport.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The design here takes on a 1950s aesthetic with rich velvet upholstery and bespoke furniture, and train references nod back to the tram lines that once ran past the hotel.

THE FACILITIES

In-room facilities are excellent, from the fast Wi-Fi to Chromecast-enabled smart TV, while the executive lounge (for the executive rooms) is well stocked with snacks and drinks.

The Carriage Restaurant: locally sourced, modern European cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner. Three courses €31.
