  • Ian Watkins, the former Lostprophets singer, has died after being attacked in HMP Wakefield on Saturday morning.
  • Watkins was serving a 29-year sentence for child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby, having been jailed in December 2013.
  • Police and paramedics were called to the prison following reports of a serious assault, where Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Two men, aged 25 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of murder by West Yorkshire Police, who have launched an investigation into the incident.
  • Watkins had previously been stabbed in the same prison in 2023 and appeared in court in 2019 for possessing a phone behind bars.
