Jimmy Kimmel apologises for ‘making light’ of Charlie Kirk’s death in TV return
Jimmy Kimmel receives standing ovation as audience chants his name during show opening
Jimmy Kimmel returned to his late-night show after an "indefinite" suspension, apologising for comments made about the death of MAGA commentator Charlie Kirk.
Donald Trump criticised ABC for reinstating Kimmel, claiming the network had previously indicated the show was cancelled and threatening to "test ABC" again.
Kimmel defended free speech on his return, while FCC Chairman Brendan Carr had previously suggested Kimmel was trying to "directly mislead the American public."
Despite his return, Nexstar Media and Sinclair Inc. announced they would continue to boycott Jimmy Kimmel Live! on their local ABC affiliate stations, replacing it with news programming.
