The spectacular main stage, which took two years to construct, was engulfed in flames, with black smoke spreading to nearby woodland, prompting residents to close windows and doors.
Despite the significant damage, festival spokesperson Debby Wilmsen confirmed the event will proceed as planned from Friday (18 July), albeit without the main stage.
Wilmsen emphasised that safety remains the top priority, stating organisers will comply with authorities' instructions if the site is deemed unsafe for the tens of thousands of expected visitors.
No members of the public were present during the fire, but approximately 1,000 staff were on site, and there were no reported injuries.
