British Airways business class passengers might not be served this hot meal
- British Airways has removed hot breakfasts from its premium Club Europe service on certain short-haul domestic routes from Heathrow as part of a trial.
- Passengers on the affected five routes now receive a continental breakfast, such as a fruit plate and pastry, instead of traditional hot options like eggs and bacon.
- The airline states the change is due to challenges in heating and serving hot meals comfortably on very short journeys, following customer and crew feedback.
- The move has prompted accusations of cost-cutting and a 'devaluation' of the Club product from customers, despite BA reporting an 11.7 per cent operating profit margin.
- This follows a previous reversal by BA on a similar change to long-haul meals, and the airline is also trialling a 'Ploughman’s Tea' concept and efforts to reduce plastic waste.
