Italian airport workers are striking on Friday 26 September, leading to anticipated flight delays and cancellations nationwide.
The industrial action, organised by trade unions CUB and USB, is expected to impact Milan’s Malpensa and Linate airports in particular.
Reasons for the strike include demands for improved pay and working conditions, as well as opposition to the “war economy”.
Workers are also striking in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, following recent widespread protests across Italy.
Despite the walkouts, flights are guaranteed to operate during the hours of 7am-10am and 6pm-9pm; staff from airlines such as Volotea and Wizz Air Malta are also striking for 24 hours.
