The Food Standards Agency has warned over some products from the Jolly Rancher brand
  • The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned British shoppers against purchasing and eating Jolly Rancher sweets due to potential cancer risks from mineral oils in the candies.
  • The sweets contain mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons and mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons, which are added to prevent stickiness but do not comply with UK law.
  • Hershey, the US producer of Jolly Rancher, has been working with the FSA to remove the products from the UK market since 2024, but some businesses continue to import them.
  • Affected products include Jolly Rancher Hard Candy, "Misfits" Gummies, Hard Candy Fruity 2 in 1, and Berry Gummies. Consumers are advised to avoid these products.
  • The FSA advises consumers who have bought the sweets not to eat them and to dispose of them.
